We think of our mother every day. She keeps us going, says Prince Harry
Princess-Diana.com - William and Harry wrapped up against the cold during their interviews in South Africa.Prince Harry has revealed that he conjures up memories of his mother every day.

He said he wonders what Princess Diana would think of what he and his brother William have made of their lives.

In a moving interview given during their joint tour of Africa last week, the 25-year-old prince added that thinking of their mother ‘keeps them going’.

‘Every day, I know I do and I’m sure William does as well, whatever we do, wherever we are and whoever we’re with, I particularly always wonder what she’d think, what she’d be doing if she was with us now,’ said Harry.

‘If she’d be sitting here having a laugh, whether she’d be in the background sticking her tongue out or whether she’d be playing football with the children.

‘That’s what keeps us going every day – that thought of what would she be like if she was around today.

‘It’s refreshing because we both have our own opinion of what she’d be like and “mad” would be one word to describe her.’

The princes were asked whether Diana would be proud of their work with charities such as conservation group The Tusk Trust and Sentebale, the organisation Harry set up to help Aids orphans in Lesotho. William, 28, said: ‘We’d like to think she’s proud of us.
‘I see myself building Tusk up and other charities I’ve got into the future. Obviously when our military careers come to an end then we can get more wholeheartedly into it.

‘She’d be very proud of what Harry’s done [with] Sentebale bearing in mind that it’s actually his own charity that he started.

‘Hopefully she’d be really chuffed.’

The brothers were speaking during an interview with the Tonight programme to be broadcast on ITV tonight at 7.30pm.

Their mother died in a Paris car crash in 1997 when they were 15 and 12.

The pair also spoke of their love for Africa and its people – and the anonymity that travelling there gives them.

Asked if he envied the comparative freedom his brother will have while he will have to prepare to be King, William replied: ‘I don’t agree with that statement. If you want to have time for it you make time for it and you do what you can to shape your own future.

‘If I see worthwhile projects… and I believe in them enough and I want to support them then I’ll do everything I can to make that happen.’

He also praised his younger brother, saying: ‘I think Harry’s got a very free spirit and a very intuitive way of dealing with things, looking at problems.

‘He very much throws himself into it wholeheartedly. He’s got a big heart and he wants to make a difference.’

Asked what sort of support he will give his brother as he prepares to be King, Harry replied: ‘I will always give him as much support as I can. Sometimes it’s probably not valued, which is understandable as the older brother always thinks they know best.

‘But I always give him my opinion where it’s needed. When I think he’s wrong I’ll tell him he’s wrong.

‘Nine times out of ten he puts that in his back pocket and carries on anyway but in later life, who knows?’

Harry is fighting to save his five-year romance with Chelsy Davy after she announced she was moving back to her family in Zimbabwe because she was so homesick.
